Research Promotion Policies

Venkateshwara Open University has its Research Promotion Policy that works with and screens research exercises. The guidelines for qualification for Ph.D. program, Subjects of Research, Admission Procedure, Allocation of Candidates, Registration Details, Course Work Details, Submission of Synopsis, Thesis Submission, Plagiarism Check, Appointment of Examiner and Viva-Voce. All Professors, Associate Professors and Assistant Professors with a Ph.D. degree working in the University Schools/Department/Departments of DDE with minimum 4 years of research experience are qualified to go about as a Research Guide, in the wake of acquiring the Certificate of Recognition as Research Guide.

Prevention of Plagiarism Policies

The core work carried out by the author shall be based on original ideas and shall be covered by Zero Tolerance Policy on Plagiarism.

The core work shall include abstract with keywords, introduction, objective, hypothesis, research methodology, analysis and interpretation, summary and observations, conclusions, recommendations and references.

In case of found guilty of plagiarizing, they shall be considered under the following class of severity:

Level 1: Similarities above 10% to 40% – Shall be asked to withdraw manuscript submitted for publication and shall not be allowed to publish any work for a minimum period of one year.

Level 2: Similarities above 40% to 60% – shall be asked to withdraw manuscript submitted for publication and shall not be allowed to publish any work for a minimum period of 2 years and shall be denied a right to one annual increment in case of academician. They also shall not be allowed to be a supervisor to any UG, PG, Master’s, M.Phil., Ph.D. student/scholar for a period of two years.

Level 3: Similarities above 60% – shall be asked to withdraw manuscript submitted for publication and shall not be allowed to publish any work for a minimum period of three years and in case of faculty, shall be denied a right to two successive annual increments and shall not be allowed to be a supervisor to any UG, PG, Master’s, M.Phil., Ph.D. student/scholar for a period of three years.

Keeping in view the policy of plagiarism, and avoid piracy of intellectual property, the author needs to follow the citation policy:

  • When 10 words are taken together from some established core work, citation becomes essential.
  • Also, when the copied content reaches 40 words in accumulation, the fragment needs to be kept under inverted comma (“_”) in italic.
  • Authors are necessarily required to cite reference in case of any content adopted from anywhere other than internet open sites. It is also that, even in case of open site internet source the copied contents if found more than 30 percent in aggregate during plagiarism detection, the work shall not be considered for further proceedings.

Policy-IPR Cell

Major Objectives:

  1. To make faculties aware of the need and responsibility to protect new knowledge generated through IPR, ownership of biological and other materials and data generated.
  2. To develop procedures to capture,assess and protect new intellectual property generated.
  3. To provide information on demand relating to patents in their areas of interest by maintaining appropriate national and international databases.
  4. To provide appropriate technological,professional and legal expertise and services to assist filing patents in India and abroad.
  5. To encourage and provide all support for protecting and commercializing new knowledge generated.
  6. To develop a licensing policy that ensures the maximal benefit and a fair return on investment of the University.
  7. To develop and implement a royalty policy that encourages innovation and technology development through a system of royalty sharing, and reward system.
  8. To forge appropriate strategic alliances with national and international agencies and industry to market new inventions and develop professional knowledge networks for university, technology management professionals.

23rd October 2020 news – International Webinar on “Advances in water and transport intensive Industry for sustainable development”

By keeping in mind, the need of scholars, students and faculties, the International research and collaboration cell (IRCC) organized an International webinar on theme Advances in water and transport intensive Industry for sustainable development on 23rd October 2020..

The first speaker for the session was Dr. Gopal Krishna, Scientist-C Ground water hydrology division, NIH Roorkee, Ministry of Jal Shakti, GOI. He presented on the topic Ground water crises: A threat to water security. He emphasized on the ground water problem and its various reasons and also discussed the future impact of this for human mankind. Our second speaker for the session was Mr. Paul Comfort, Executive Director, North American Transit Alliance, Mobility futurist, author and keynote speaker from Maryland, USA. He presented on the topic of the future of public transport.

The whole session was interactive and about 100 participants attended the lecture across all parts of the country. the lecture was received with admiration by the students and they also found the slides appropriate.

16th October 2020 news – International Webinar on “Artificial Intelligence and its application”

The International research and collaboration cell (IRCC) organized an International webinar on theme Artificial Intelligence and its applications on 16th October 2020.

The first speaker for the session was Mr. Pallav Modi, Head of AI at Ennovison Tech, founder of aimadesimple.com and InStyle and also acknowledged as an AI Innovator at London Tech Week 2018. He presented on the topic Role of Artificial intelligence in shaping our future. Mr. Pallav Modi discussed the basic of AI and whats is mean for a simple human being, also emphasized the importance of AI in present time and its role in shaping the future of human mankind.

Er. Ghulam E Mustafa Abro joined us as our second speaker of the webinar, is an eminent scholar and an academician from UTP Malaysia. He presented on the topic Boom of AI and IoT enabled applications in today’s modern era. Mr. Abro highlights the importance and boom of AI and IoT enabled applications. He presented a part of his research in the field of robotics, also shared some of case studies to justify the discussion.

The lecture was attended by more than 150 participants across all parts of the country. the lecture was received with admiration by the students and they also found the slides appropriate.

25th September 2020 news – International Webinar on “How to foster effective learning and teaching in 2020 through online resources”

Speaker: Dr. Carlos Beato, Maryland, U.S.A

The International research and collaboration cell (IRCC) organized an International webinar on How to foster effective learning and teaching by online resources on 25th September 2020.

The speaker for the session was Dr. Carlos Beato, founding principal at the International High School at Langley Park (IHSLP) in Bladensburg, Maryland. Few of the organizations he worked for are Johns Hopkins Institute for Education Policy, “Preparing Teachers for Diverse America”; Mid-Atlantic Conference on Personalized Learning, “Competency-Based Schooling for ELLs”; INACOL Blended and Online Learning Symposium, “Lessons from New Competency-Based High Schools: Leaders Reflect on Design and Launch.”

Dr Carlos explained the importance of effective learning and teaching and the need of access to technology and online resources for an effective impact on student’s learning. He also highlighted the new research on the views of students and teachers about using digital resources in the classroom and examine what is needed to support new models of learning.

The lecture was attended by more than 170 participants across all parts of country. lecture was received with admiration by the students and they also found the slides appropriate.
